I bought the Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse on Overstock.com for my laptop. It might have the single best idea I have seen for a laptop accessory, a small form factor for the USB receiver.
I am able to leave the receiver in the computer at all times, without having to worry about it sticking out or being in the way of other devices. The mouse itself has a compartment in the base that allows you to stow the receiver away when you do not need it, but unless you need three USB ports, you might as well leave it in the laptop at all times.
